The Mask
18x24 canvas
Acrylic on canvas with paper mache, quilling.
At the time I painted this I was going through a bad period working 2 jobs and trying to write on Saturdays. I felt like I was being buried alive by responsibilities. So I painted something that represented that.
Flowers 8x10. Watercolor on card stock with pen and ink.
I’m forever exploring different ways to create. I discovered if I just laid in areas of color and tried to see the composition in the medium I could do some very interesting things and have fun.
This two sided sculpture is wood 12x24. It was inspired by Joan Miro and my study of African sculpture. I loved doing it because I got to use a band saw and power tools.
Fishing Boots The Original is 16x20
Acrylic on Canvas Board.
This painting was inspired by my father. He loved to fish. (Well actually I think enjoyed the quiet of sitting on the bank or out on a pontoon and soaking up the peace more than anything.) I wanted to paint him something he would appreciate.
I wanted to give you a taste of some of the art I create and am interested in. It’s varied and some of it’s 3-dimensional, even the paintings. I’ll be adding prints for sale later.
A Bee. Colored pencil on drawing paper
12x18
This is actually an illustration for a children’s book. I have seven of them done and have nine more to go and the cover. I work in colored pencil much like I do with other mediums, form light to dark and work in texture as it’s needed. This is one of my favorite illustrations for the book.
Girl With a Puppy
Pastel on pastel paper 16x20
Girl with a puppy was created from a photograph taken by a parent of her daughter playing with the puppies their dog had happened. I had the girl in kindergarten and later taught her in college as well. Which made it even more special to me later.
